100th Day Celebration

There is a Korean tradition where you celebrate/acknowledge when a baby turns 100 days old. It was an important custom back in the day as life expectancy for babies was uncertain, and the 100th day was considered a big milestone in which the baby survived the most vulnerable state of infancy. This is something we had not done with Zoe, partially because my brain was so wrapped around returning to work from maternity leave (which any moms know how overwhelming that feels). I hadn't thought much of it this time around, again, but Z really wanted to celebrate it for Zay. I am really glad he persisted because the planning and having people over to meet the baby was worth it.

Zay's 100th day was on April 8th, which was a Saturday, and a perfect day for us to throw a party.

Flowers: Costco (store-bought and arranged by me)

Cake and cupcakes: Sugar and Spice

Cupcake stand: Williams and Sonoma

We were so grateful that the vast majority of the Beh family members could join us. And trust me, none of them live close and all require several hours of air travel. Except for my mother-in-law (the girls' "Amah" aka grandma), it was the first time that my brothers and sisters-in-law (one couldn't join) met the baby. My side of the family couldn't come, but we'll be seeing them sometime this summer.

The actual star of the party missed out on the first half of the party due to her nap, but she was awake on time for the cake cutting (which she did not like at all) and a brief meet-and-greet with everyone.

This ended up being such a fun experience for everyone. We appreciate our local friends who stopped by to meet the baby and celebrate with us!
