Behby Shower

BabyB was showered with so much love from people last week! It’s amazing to see so many people getting excited for us and the little girl’s arrival – the excitement is truly contagious that it melts away any anxiety that we have becoming first-time parents.

Last Wednesday, my coworkers surprised us with the most adorable elephant-theme shower. They were so generous to gift us a crib (I know, less than 5 weeks at that time and we still hadn’t bought a crib – oops)! We were also surprised with American baby books – this had a special meaning to us because of both us of being immigrants, we did not grow up reading traditionally loved baby books in this country. We are excited to start building a book collection for her.

On Saturday, we were showered with love again; this time by my girlfriends from Houston. Freda and Jaimy flew in on Friday morning and began tirelessly transforming our house into a lovely event space. I’m not sure how they were able to visualize the space from a quick 1-minute video house tour that I shared with them months ago, but it turned out absolutely beautiful.

Never in my mind would I have been able to pull off something so pretty like this in my own house!

We all wanted to keep this shower small and intimate so we invited our closest coworkers (some of them who have also attended the work shower just a few days ago) and local friends. While I failed to keep it as a secret until the shower, Z’s best friend and his wife also made the drive from Chicago to celebrate the impending arrival of BabyB. This meant a lot to us, especially Z. I think he was secretly hoping that they could join us in this celebration. Little did he know for a while that they were planning that all along! (until I spoiled it – oops again). Between their presence and my Texas girlfriends, it made everything about this baby shower extra special and memorable.

We played a couple of cute baby-related games (I typically dislike shower games haha), which one of the games made us second guess whether we know anything about babies. I may need to brush up on my terminologies. On the other hand, BabyB received everything from some of the most cherished and traditionally loved baby books/toys to a crib mattress (continuing our lack of preparation for her bedding lol). We can’t wait to finish setting up her nursery and set up all these wonderful gifts we received from our loved ones.

At the end of the shower, Z and I may have had a little too much making ridiculous poses in front of the sign…

Z and I cannot thank each of you enough who follow this blog. We have been receiving so many positive wishes for a safe and healthy pregnancy, gifts, and messages. We’ve been lucky that this pregnancy has been pretty smooth so far. We couldn’t have asked for a better support system as we are about to enter a completely new journey in our lives. Hopefully, this little girl will continue cooking all through her remaining days in there (27 days!) so us amatuer parents can have a little more time getting ready for her.

And finally, thank you to Freda and Jaimy for making last weekend so special and throwing us the most beautiful shower we could have only imagined.
