The state flower of Texas is the bluebonnet. Zoe's school talks about it; we have a children's book, and we see some driving on the highway. Bluebonnet season is here, and taking the kids out to see them close in person felt natural. The best sight for bluebonnets is in Ennis, which is only an hour away, but we decided to stay local and try to find them on our own. Zoe had Friday off for Good Friday, and Z had also taken that day off, too. We were able to find a few patches at the Elmer W. Oliver Nature Park.

It was a pretty humid day, but the clouds made the walk more manageable for the kids. The girls complained about the long walk (it really wasn't long), so we tried to keep them engaged by occasionally running, spotting different wildflowers and birds. There were a few families out and about looking for bluebonnet patches like we did, but otherwise, we felt like we had the nature park to ourselves.

I'm so glad we got to see bluebonnets before we had a few days of heavy rain this week! Thank you to my family for indulging in an unplanned photoshoot! <3 Spamming with a lot of photos!

Thank you to a sweet couple for offering to take a picture of us!
