Hello friends and families! I hope everyone is staying well and safe. As usual, we are staying low as we ride through what appears to be an official second wave of the pandemic. Zoe is a healthy and happy toddler who likes to create anywhere between a category 3 and 5 hurricane destruction every evening while I cook dinner.
The global pandemic has certainly made our lives a lot simpler in some ways, and I for one are enjoying the simple pleasures. We typically spend our weekends at a park or even a dog park (makes this mama's job a little easier since it's fenced in lol) to keep my 3 toddlers happy. Yes, I count the two dogs as my toddler because they act like one. The move to Houston, and especially from a house to an apartment, has affected the dogs more so than the human family members so I try to make it a point to take everyone out with me as often as possible. Most of the time, it is me wrangling all 3 of them so I tend to earn a lot of sympathy points from strangers. 🤣
On Halloween Day, I failed to be the mom who dresses her kid in a costume. Let's just blame it on the pandemic, busy working, a super practical Asian mom who couldn't come to terms with spending money on a costume that will be worn once. But, I did want her to have a pumpkin patch experience so we visited a local church that graciously hosted a small pumpkin patch for families of little kids (honestly, so much better for toddlers in my opinion). Zoe had such a fun time touching pumpkins and straws for the first time. Clearly, she wasn't going to pose for photos so I let her run around as much as her heart pleased. She was completely wiped out by naptime. 😊

Last weekend, we celebrated Thanksgiving a little earlier as Friendsgiving with a few friends. These are our friends from college years at Texas Tech that we have formed a little social bubble with since we moved to Houston. We don't do these gatherings so when we strategically get together, it always feels good to connect. Due to the global pandemic, we decided not to travel this holiday season to see our families in order to keep all of us safe. We were extremely disappointed to make this decision since it has been more than a year since Zoe has seen either grandparent, but we know it's the best thing to do.
Yesterday, our nanny took Zoe to the zoo, and had a marvelous time. This gave me a rare few hours of peace and quietness in the apartment for me to call my applicants and catch up on work.
Nothing much has been planned for these forthcoming weeks, but I am crossing my fingers for the gorgeous weather to continue! I honestly detest summer in Houston because it's so humid and gross, but it is simply beautiful in fall/winter. I am looking forward to another weekend of the outing to the parks so Zoe gets to touch all the dirt (this girl loves to touch dirt and rocks) and run around everywhere! And of course, we can't forget out first furbabies, Lilly and Stark, because they absolutely need some outdoor time as well.
We did receive our family photos back so I can't wait to share them with you all very soon! ♥
