October 17, 2016 – I entered the The Big 3-0. To be honest, I don’t feel a whole lot of difference than when I was 29, other than the fact that it’s a little weird to tell people that I am now in my 30s…weird.
It was a normal day like every day. I took the dogs out for a walk in the morning, got ready for work, spent the whole day in a typical desk job, got back home, took the dogs out, cooked dinner, and waited for Z. My hubby has had a particulary gruesome work days lately, so he gets home at terrible hours. I know he feels bad about this every day, especially on my birthday though. He took me out to a nice Italian restaurant on Saturday night, the only day he had time off. Today, I arrived to a package and the moment I picked it up, I knew exactly what it was. 🙂
I spent the rest of the night playing with Amazon Echo (aka Alexa), which quite frankly, will perpetuate my laziness. I mean…come on, I can now pretty much activate everything by voice. Time in the kitchen will be even more fun.
I generally like to keep my birthdays quiet. It’s not that I don’t like celebrating my birth to this world, but all the attention I get from people is a little overwhelming. So, Alexa, my two cute dogs, overworked husband, and a glass of toffee buttermint wine are how spent my 30th.
Some people hate getting older, but I actually enjoy the process. I like that I have gotten more mature, have different perspectives about life, to laugh it off when life gets annoyingly hard, and I get to stay confident with my decisions (or others will call, “don’t care what others think.”)
Y’all – Life is good. I have a great career, happily married, two loving (diva) dogs, a great place to live, and I have friends and family that I love and cherish. I am not sure what else defines happiness in life, but I am pretty content with life.
I appreciate everyone reaching out to me on Facebook, texting, calling, and stopping by my office today to wish me a happy birthday. It meant a great deal to me.
