Last week was rather exhausting in our household as both Z and my job respectively kept us insanely busy. We had barely seen each other all week (seriously, I would see him sleep and that’s about it), and I was just ready to be a hermit for the weekend.
I was invited to an inaugural meet and greet for @stldogmoms on Friday evening but had little energy left in me to go out and socialize with people yet again. That all changed when I walked into my house and saw my two poor furbabies looking at me with so many hopes filled in their eyes. An exhaustingly busy work week meant less attention to the dogs, which correlated to less walking, less playtime, and less loving. They used all the remaining sad-puppy-look for the week on my arrival.
I decided to get my act together as the dog mom, got them ready and immediately took off for Tamm Avenue Bar. Our entire way there, the dogs were cheerfully barking and piercing through the windows to soak in the outside world.
STL Dog Moms is a new Instagram group where dog owners can get together to hang out and be supportive of each other’s dog “motherhood”. I’m clearly not ashamed of the fact that I consider myself a dog mom! Considering the highly independent life that I lead (mostly due to my husband’s unavailability…not to his fault of course), my dogs are irreplaceable companions for me.
My good friend @therealhousedogsofstlouis was the official photographer of the event and captured some precious moments of us and many waggy canines that day.
It’s incredible how you can get reenergized from being with dogs. Even though I was still physically feeling tired, mentally I was in a happier place. Moreover, seeing my dogs happy brought me great joy. Thank you, @STLdogmoms for a fun gathering, and we look forward to another meeting of barking and sniffing in the near future!
