My sweet mom and my brother – they returned home today after helping me and @zhuangbeh for 7 weeks figuring out our new norm as parents.
My mom practically picked up all tasks around the house so that I can recover and bond with Zoe. She was also the person I looked up to (like I always do) when I was unsure of what I was doing or just needed her shoulder to cry on when breastfeeding was so hard and confusing.
For my brother, my heart melted while watching him be the sweetest uncle, the most helpful mommy’s helper, and the entertainer for the dogs at time they felt neglected.
And lastly my dad, who had to hold down the fort at home and take care of our 90 year old grandma so that they could spend those weeks with me.
It is true when they say that it takes a village to raise a child. I know we’re lucky to be able to have such a strong family support (from mine as well as Z’s side) even when they’re several hundred miles away. I go to bed tonight full of gratitude and also wishing that we had lived closer to our families.
