Every now and then, a student I worked with for graduate admission shows up and thanks me unexpectedly. This time, it was this sweetest Chinese international student I worked with back in the summer, who has decided to return home to be with family instead of continuing her educational journey. I was gifted this beautiful Chinese bracelet from the student today. I had no idea I had made any impact on her back then, but apparently I was her go to person on campus since then.

This job can be lonely in some ways because you don’t always get to see these students you admit progress and succeed in their programs. Admission person isn’t exactly their go to person once they start school. But in these rare moments, they come back and let them know and my work made an impact on their lives. I will forever cherish these moments of remembrance and appreciation. Thank you for making my heart full today.
