Baby B moves!

Updated: Apr 27, 2020

Kicks, Jabs, Punches

Ahhh…I’m 35 weeks! Seriously, where did all the time go? Preparation for maternity leave at work is in full swing this week as I’m beginning to finalize on training materials for my coworkers and setting up meetings to prep them for my role. While I will be gone for 12 weeks, my absence happens to be during the busiest season of the year in the world of university/graduate school admissions as we prepare for fall students. I’m sure my coworkers are loving my timely scheduled leave, but what can they do…haha.

Meanwhile, it has taken me weeks to finally capture Baby B’s movements on camera. I began to feel her kicks around 31 weeks but the creepy alien-like movements you see on the surface of a belly didn’t begin until around 33 weeks or so. I think because of the anterior placenta, most of her kicks are there but not as prominent on the surface as some other moms might observe with their baby kicks. Baby B is very sneaky with her kicks – as if she knows when I’m trying to film her movements. Kicks these days are powerful and sometimes, painful. The jabs occur unexpectedly throughout the day (conveniently, when I’m driving or in a meeting with students…), which makes me give off interesting expressions to people- I usually just point to my belly, make a strange laugh, and then comment awkwardly that Baby B just punched me. It is truly amazing (and still sometimes creepy haha) to not only feel but also see her movements on the surface. I know Z has really been enjoying the experience, too.

I filmed this on Saturday, which was the last day of my 34-week pregnancy. Please try to ignore the laundry running the background and my annoying loud breaths – apparently, her jabs that day were a little unbearable 😉

Some exciting things happening this week – my work is apparently throwing me a baby shower this Wednesday (it was supposed to be a surprise, but I kind of found out by accident lol), and my girlfriends from Houston are flying over this weekend to throw us a baby shower at our home.  What an incredibly sweet thing for them to do! I am mainly excited to see them again since our girls’ trip to Florida last April.
