[Continuing my “best photos from our road trip” series…]

Cannon Beach.

Y’all, let me tell you about this place. First of all, this place was spectacular. Second of all, it was super windy (I thought I was going to fly away). Finally, it was freaking freezing. But, let’s go back to my first thought. We were told that this is one of the “must” places to visit, and I’m glad we did. It’s true that you continue to see these unique rock formations along the coastal drive, but not up close like this.

From the far away distance, it appeared as if someone stuck several sculptures in the vastness of this ocean. As you get closer, though, you begin to realize just how overwhelmingly raw and giant these rocks (?) are, and how tiny you are compared to them. Maybe it felt so raw because the mother nature was in its full force – gusty wind, high waves crashing onto the rock, and seemingly chill seagulls. I didn’t hear a thing what Z had to say (because of the wind), and I was convinced I was going to be blown away into the ocean and never be found. I do remember Z asking if he can swim toward the rock…I’m pretty sure I was shaking my head furiously.

Unfortunately, we didn’t walk around for too long as we weren’t quite prepared for this type of weather. After all, we live in the Midwest and don’t have a clue on the coastal weather. We spent the night in a small coastal town, Nehalem, not too far from Cannon Beach.
